“If the LORD delights in us, He will bring us into this land and give it to us, a land flowing with milk and honey.” — Numbers 14:8
It is possible for two people to face the exact same situation and walk away with completely different futures, not because their circumstances were different, but because their perspective was. That is the story of Joshua and Caleb versus the ten spies, and it is one of the most sobering lessons in all of Scripture.
They saw the same land. They encountered the same giants. They carried back the same grapes. But ten of them came back defeated before the battle even began, while two came back with fire in their eyes and faith in their mouths. The difference was not what they saw; it was what they chose to focus on.
- The ten spies focused on the size of the giants and asked, “How can we win?” * Joshua and Caleb focused on the size of their God and asked, “If God delights in us, how can we lose?” Same giants. Different eyes. Different future.*
Beloved, what are you currently focusing on? The obstacle or the promise? The diagnosis or the Healer? The closed door or the God who opens doors no man can shut? Your focus is quietly determining your future. Where your eyes linger, your faith either grows or shrinks.
Today, shift your gaze. The giant is real, but your God is greater. And He delights in you.
A Prayer for Today
Father, today I choose to see my situation through the eyes of faith. I refuse to be moved by the size of the obstacle. I declare that because You delight in me, every giant in my life is already defeated. Give me a Caleb spirit, bold, focused, and fully persuaded in Your promises. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
