“And many warned him to be quiet; but he cried out all the more, ‘Son of David, have mercy on me!'” — Mark 10:48
Beloved, we close this week with one of the most powerful responses to discouragement in all of Scripture. Not a sermon. Not a strategy. Just a cry that refused to be silenced and a miracle that followed.
Blind Bartimaeus was sitting by the roadside when he heard that Jesus was passing by. It was possibly his only moment. He had no connections, no influence, no one to advocate for him. All he had was his voice and his faith. So he cried out.
And the crowd told him to be quiet. They rebuked him. They tried to shut him down with their opinions and their sense of order. But Bartimaeus did something remarkable. He didn’t shrink back. He didn’t apologize. He didn’t whisper. The Bible says he cried out all the more. He was deaf to the discouragement and fully alive to the opportunity standing just a few feet away. That cry stopped Jesus in His tracks. And his life was never the same again.
Beloved, this is your reminder as we close this week. There will always be voices telling you to be quiet, to stop believing, stop praying, stop expecting. They will sound reasonable. They will sound like the majority. But your miracle is not decided by the majority. It is decided by the One who hears your cry.
Don’t let this week end in silence. Cry out the more. Press in harder. Hold on longer. Hannah did it and got Samuel. Bartimaeus did it and got his sight. You do it and watch what God does. Be deaf to what is trying to limit you. Be attentive to what is calling you higher. Your breakthrough is closer than the noise suggests.
A Prayer for Today
Father, like Bartimaeus, I refuse to be silenced by discouragement. I cry out to You today with everything in me. Thank You that You hear every prayer, every tear, and every act of faith. I declare that this is my moment and I will not let it pass me by. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
